Workshop for a Caring Congregation
FORGET ME NOT
Memory Loss – Dementia – Alzheimer’s
Thursday, May 18th at 3:00 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m.
Join us for an opportunity to learn:
~ what may be “normal” memory loss versus dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease;
~ early warning signs of memory loss;
~ tips for understanding and communicating with persons who have dementia;
~ resources of support for persons with a diagnosis of dementia and their caregivers.
We will learn to be more comfortable around dementia and will talk about ways that we can be a congregation that is dementia-friendly, helping persons with dementia and their caregivers to feel welcomed, loved, and supported by their church family.
These two identical workshops will be led by Jenny West, Caregiving and Aging Community Educator for FamilyMeans. She will be joined by Mary Harcey, who works with Jenny on the Saturday Connections respite program and Stillwater Area ACT on Alzheimer’s, working to create a dementia-friendly community.
The workshops will be held in the Wesley Room at First United Methodist Church of Stillwater. Sign up at the Information Center, or by contacting the church office.
